Rugby league great and father-of-two Billy Slater has shown how real men parent, by posting video of himself playing Barbies with his daughter.

Queenslander Slater, who was left out of State of Origin I, will rejoin the Maroons squad for game two on June 21.

The Melbourne Storm fullback joined toy manufacture Mattel’s #DadsWhoPlayBarbie campaign with an adorable video aimed to urge fathers to spend time playing Barbies with their children.

“This one’s for all you dads out there. Let me share some of my off field expertise with you,” Slater captioned the post.

“Today I’m going to teach you how to play Barbie with your daughter,” Slater begins, before sharing his experience.

“Hi there vet Barbie… potty puppy has a nasty, nasty cough, do you think you can help?

“You know what? I have a nasty cough too, do you know someone that could help me?”

The video has been viewed 53,000 times since Wednesday and received 420 comments of overwhelming support for Slater’s proactive parenting skills.

“This just proves that you are a legend both on and off the field Billy,” one commenter wrote.

“See all real men dress as fairies for their daughter, allow their daughters to do their hair and makeup and play barbies,” another said.

“Great sportsman and husband, son and father… great role model… can only imagine in more years to come,” a supporter said.
