A YouTube poster has been ordered to front court after allegedly uploading recorded footage of Bruce Lehrmann’s high-profile defamation trial despite an order prohibiting it.

Glenn Logan was named as the alleged person behind a previously anonymous YouTube channel in court documents published on Thursday.

Federal Court Justice Michael Lee ordered Logan to “show cause … as to why proceedings for contempt should not be instituted against him”.

The defamation proceedings brought by Lehrmann, which ran for 22 days, were livestreamed on the Federal Court YouTube page and were at some points watched by thousands of viewers.

In November, Justice Lee made an order prohibiting viewers from making any recording or photographic record of the hearings and advised any breaches may constitute a contempt of court.

In his latest order, Justice Lee listed several Youtube links which allegedly contravened the prohibition.

Logan will be required to appear before the Federal Court in person on February 13, 2024.

Lehrmann is suing Network Ten and journalist Lisa Wilkinson over a February 2021 report on The Project where Brittany Higgins was interviewed about her alleged rape in a Parliament House office in March 2019.

He has always denied any sexual contact occurred.

The trial concluded the Friday before Christmas and Justice Lee will make his decision at a later date.
