Looking for a savoury hit? Two words: Bacon salt

Daniel Wilson from Huxtable and Huxtaburger has gone the extra mile for lovers of bacon this week by adding bacon SALT to his crinkle-cut fries.

As if bacon wasn’t salty enough.

If you can’t get in to one of Melbourne’s three Huxtaburger outlets, you can whip up some of your own meaty seasoning at home.

Bacon salt

You’ll need

8 rashers bacon

2 tbsp salt

1. Heat a non stick grill pan over a medium heat and cook the bacon until it is crisp.

2. Immediately drain on paper towel and place paper towel on top. Press lightly to extract as much grease as possible.

3. Heat the oven to the lowest setting. Place the bacon in a single layer between paper towel and dry out in the oven for six hours.

4. Place the bacon in a food processor with the salt and pulse until it is fine. Store in an air tight container at room temperature. Do not put in the fridge. Sprinkle liberally over any food to give it a delicious bacon flavour!

Mmmm … bacon.
