Whether you are scouring the supermarkets for them on Boxing Day or saving them up for Good Friday like any traditionalist, everyone has an opinion on hot cross buns.

The Easter treat is a must on many shoppers’ lists, and while they seem to get more fancy each year, there’s still plenty of joy to be found in the humble supermarket version.

Cross on top – check. Dried fruit – check. And how about the density?
