Channel Ten reveals new family-friendly Bachelor

In addition to a chiselled body and radioactive white teeth, Australia’s newest TV bachelor has a passion for children.

Described as a “pioneer” of kids health, personal trainer Sam Wood, 34, is the new face of Channel Ten’s hit dating show.

The Melburnian, who founded a chain of exercise and wellness centres for young Australians, has already begun filming the third series of The Bachelor.

His company, Gecko Kids, has 35 of the health centres around the nation.

“I loved working with kids of all ages and fitness levels, helping them improve in all areas of fitness, confidence and self esteem, but I wanted to do more. Working as a trainer I had the ability to see 30 kids a week,” Mr Wood recently told Swisse News.

Last year’s series of The Bachelor ended in controversy when bachelor Blake Garvey and his bachelorette Sam Frost broke up soon after Garvey proposed to her during the season finale.

Mr Wood says the role is a “privilege”, and hopes to settle down with a partner for the long term. With his heart of gold, the nation’s women are sure to warm to him.

“Being the Bachelor is a real privilege and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I plan on embracing the experience with an open mind, while wearing my heart on my sleeve,” he said of his new role in the spotlight,” he says.

“I hope to find a woman with whom I share a sense of fun, an undeniable chemistry and a mutual respect. Ultimately I’m searching for the love of my life. I’m going to throw myself into the adventure and I’m prepared to have the absolute time of my life.”
