Bernard Tomic has slipped to his lowest ATP world tennis ranking in more than a year, with the 24-year-old falling to No.41 on the latest charts, which were released on Monday.

Tomic has struggled for consistency lately and was last week accused of tanking in his defeat to Belgian Steve Darcis in Florida.

The 24-year-old appeared to drop his work rate substantially when world No.48 Darcis went up 4-1 in the second set, before the Australian eventually crashed to a 3-6 6-1 6-4 defeat – his third first-round exit this year in four tournaments.

Tomic has dropped 10 places in the rankings, while fellow Australian Nick Kyrgios has slipped one spot, down to No.17.

Kyrgios performed well in his most recent tournament in Marseille, where he couldn’t defend his title, but still managed to make the semi-finals, in his first ATP tournament since his disappointing second-round exit at the Australian Open.

But like Tomic in Florida, Kyrgios also courted controversy in Marseille, lashing out at the umpire during the close 7-6 (7-5) 2-6 6-4 semi-final loss to eventual champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

On the back of his win in Marseille, Frenchman Tsonga has risen four places to be ranked No.7.

The top six rankings remain the same, with Britain’s Andy Murray world No.1 and Novak Djokovic No.2.

In the women’s rankings, there was no change to the top nine, with Australian Open women’s champion Serena Williams still No.1.

Samantha Stosur is Australia’s best-ranked women’s player at No.18, having climbed one spot.

Daria Gavrilova remains world No.26.
