Broncos run into an almost-perfect Storm

The Melbourne Storm overcame the Broncos 30-8 at Lang Park on Friday night just a few days after news Wayne Bennett would be returning as coach to Brisbane next season.

Two tries to Ryan Hoffman on top of Marika Koroibete, Ryan Hinchcliffe and Cooper Cronk’s efforts saw the Storm secure the win that saw them leapfrog the Broncos into sixth spot on the ladder.

The Storm led 12-4 at half-time after Koroibete’s fifth-minute opening effort, before Hoffman doubled the visitors’ advantage nine minutes later.

Dale Copley opened the hosts’ account midway through the first stanza, only for Hoffman to score his second shortly after the interval.

Alex Glenn pulled one back for the Broncos shortly after, but Cronk sealed a Melbourne win with a converted try 10 minutes from time.

More to follow.
