Knights prepare for battle across the ditch

Newcastle Knights forward Jeremy Smith says it will not be an easy task to win in New Zealand.

The Knights take on the Warriors in Auckland on Sunday afternoon, but Newcastle does not have the best record against the New Zealand outfit.

Newcastle has only beat the Warriors once in their last six meetings since 2010.

The Knights will welcome back Smith from a knee injury, along with centre Joey Leilua.

Smith says the team knows they need to take it to the Warriors from the kick-off.

“It’s always tough going over there,” he said.

“They’re a big mob and we’ll have to bring our A-game to get hold of them and rip into them.

“They’re big all over the park, I suppose we’ll just have to aim up from 1-to-17 and certainly get into them.”

The Warriors have seen a turn around in from in recent weeks with a new coach now on board and Smith says the Knights know it won’t be an easy game.

“They’re starting to play well, grinding out games it’s going to be a tough ask over there.

“But we’ve been training well over the bye and the last week or so I’m definitely looking forward to getting over there.”
