Andrew Fifita backflip: re-signs with Cronulla

Kangaroos prop Andrew Fifita has finally sorted out his playing future, signing a four-year NRL deal with Cronulla.

Fifita’s multi-million dollar deal with Canterbury spectacularly fell apart last month leaving the Sharks’ front-rower in limbo.

But Cronulla confirmed they had signed Fifita to a new deal on Saturday that will keep him at the club until the end of 2018.

“I’m very happy to have it done and I can now concentrate on playing football,” Fifita said in a club statement.

“I’m really looking forward to the next four years here at the Sharks, to winning a premiership and to helping to create some history for this club.”

Sharks interim coach Peter Shark welcomed Fifita’s renewed commitment to the club.

“Andrew is one of the best front-rowers in the game and his signing is very much a positive for this club,” Sharp said.

“We look forward to him leading the way for this club not only for the rest of this year but for the next four seasons as well.”
