Sonny Bill charged, faces possible four-week ban
Sydney Roosters superstar Sonny Bill Williams is facing a three to four week suspension after being being charged with making a grade two shoulder charge in Thursday night’s NRL season-opening match.
The league’s match review committee on Friday charged Williams over his 80th-minute hit on South Sydney forward George Burgess.
Roosters skipper Anthony Minichiello was handed a grade one dangerous contact charge for a raised knee on Lote Tuqiri, while Souths five eighth Dylan Walker was sanctioned for tripping Williams in the 17th minute.
Minichiello can avoid a one-match ban with an early guilty plea while Walker is not facing a suspension.
