Raiders win battle for Milford, but lose the war

The Canberra Raiders appear to have won the battle for star player Anthony Milford to return to the club in 2014 but it appears they have lost the war.

Milford has been courted by the Broncos to make a return to his hometown after it was revealed he wanted to return to Brisbane to be with his sick father.

While it appeared Milford was destined to join other another star recruit Ben Barba in Broncos colours in 2014, he will instead return to Canberra.

The Broncos, however, have still had a win, with a press conference this morning expected to announce Milford will join them for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Milford is highly-regarded in league circles and was seen as a prime candidate to help fill a role in Brisbane’s troublesome halves.

He has been with the Raiders since being placed on a scholarship as a 13-year-old.
