It’s going to happen.

Tennis heartthrob Eugenie Bouchard has agreed to hold up her end of the bargain, and give one lucky Twitter user the date of his dreams.

Bouchard, 22, made a bet with 20-year-old Missouri student John Goehrke during Monday’s dramatic Super Bowl in which the New England Patriots stormed home in the biggest comeback in the event’s history.

And Bouchard, who lost the bet thanks to Tom Brady’s superhuman fourth-quarter effort, said she will keep her word.

“It’s fun and I’m going to follow through with it, because I want to honour my word,” she told TSN.

“It’s just fun to have interactions like that with your fans. Like I said, I was so confident, but I think I was too confident. I just tempted fate a little bit too much. Yeah, here is my punishment.”

The Canadian taunted Pats fans before making the bet as she went the early crow, calling it a win for her much-loved Atlanta Falcons.

But the Chicago schoolboy felt it was far from over, as a Brady-inspired 25-point comeback stole the championship.

“I’ve been a big fan of hers for a couple of years now and I was going through Twitter and it was only the second quarter when I saw her tweet,” Goehrke told Kansas City Star.

“I just thought to myself it’s not over. That idea kind of just popped in my head, so I went through with it.

“I thought maybe there was a chance she would respond, but I thought there was no chance she’d actually agree to it.”

While the result was ecstasy for Goehrke, it went a little differently for the world number 45.

“I was starting to get nervous as the Pats were coming back and the score was getting closer and closer,” she recalled.

“I was with my brother and my mum and they kept looking at me like, ‘oh, you might have to go on a date,’ and like making fun of me. I just couldn’t believe it could actually happen, so I was in complete shock.”

‘Genie’ obviously has a busy schedule on the WTA Tour, but has agreed to fly out Goehrke for their date.

When and where that will be is still to be decided.

“You know what?” she said. “I’ll fly him out [to a tournament], but besides that he has to be the gentleman and, you know, organise a fun date night.”
