Prince Harry’s Invictus Games for wounded servicemen and women will close with a rock concert featuring acts like the Foo Fighters and Kaiser Chiefs.

Harry, who has been the driving force behind the event, said he is “over the moon” with how it has gone, and suggested it could be staged outside of London next year.

Speaking on Saturday after spending the day watching events.

“We’ve now got America showing interest in 2016 and Canada showing interest in 2017, so the question is what do we do next year?

“I personally, along with a couple of other people on the board, would love to keep it in the UK, maybe head north whether it be Glasgow, whether it be Sheffield, whether it be Manchester.

“So many good things happen in London and the rest of the country have to watch it on TV or travel a long distance.”

Harry also highlighted the need to improve the process of wounded ex-servicemen and women being matched with an employer willing to take them on.

“The MoD (Ministry of Defence) has a huge part to play as does everyone and we all have to work together – and if we open the doors to them they will prove themselves worthy.”

The Vamps, Rizzle Kicks, James Blunt, Ellie Goulding, Ryan Adams and Military Wives Choirs are among the other acts to feature on the bill, with highlights to be screened by the BBC.

The Games are a Paralympic-style sporting championship for injured servicemen and women staged at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London, which was built for the 2012 Olympics.

Harry launched the contest earlier this year to support rehabilitation and raise awareness of those injured serving their countries, with more than 400 wounded service personnel from 13 nations taking part.
