A Kiwi mixed martial arts fighter has posted a graphic selfie of his bruised and battered head after losing a bout at the UFC Fight Night Adelaide.

Mark Hunt, 41, suffered a fifth-round TKO loss to heavyweight rival Stipe Miocic where he was hit with a record number of successful punches – a dizzying 361.

In comparison, Hunt only landed 46 punches and the selfie told a harrowing story.

The fighters duelled for just over 20 minuted and Miocic’s tally of 361 punches broke the previous best mark of 355 set in 1995 by Royce Gracie.

Mionic managed to get Hunt’s hefty frame onto the floor six times over the course of the fight and each time he unleashed a flurry of headshots.

As the fighters broke between the fourth and fifth round a doctor came to assess Hunt whose face was so disfigured he looked a different man.

The doctor allowed the fight to continue, but the referee was forced to stop the bout soon after when Miocic delivered a sustained beating to Hunt’s head.
