Australia’s Cam Davis has earned a great shot at a second PGA Tour victory after shooting a brilliant seven-under-par 65 third round at the Fortinet Championship in Napa, California.

The 28-year-old Australian made seven birdies, roaring home with four over the last four holes, in a flawless display to be tied second, two shots behind American leader Sahith Theegala.

World No.49 Davis earned a spot in Sunday’s final pairing with Theegala as he seeks to add to his breakthrough win on the tour at the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

World No.37 Theegala, 25, boosted his quest for a maiden win by posting a 67 to get to 17-under after a season with seven top-10 finishes.

Davis was tied with two-time major champion Justin Thomas (65) and South Korea’s S.H. Kim (69) while Matt Kuchar (65) and Eric Cole (68) were a further shot back.

Having led the tournament after a first round 63, Australian Lucas Herbert continued to slip after a 71 to be tied 28th, 10 shots behind Theegala.
