Glory young gun tries luck in Serie A

Perth Glory young gun Daniel De Silva has flown to Europe in the hope of landing a multimillon-dollar deal with a Serie A club in Italy.

The Glory confirmed De Silva flew to Europe on Saturday with his family to have discussions with key representatives from an unnamed club.

Should De Silva sign a deal, it is likely he will remain with the Glory until he turns 18.

De Silva turned 17 this month, and is contracted to Glory until July 2015.

“We can all agree that Danny is an exceptional talent that has had major interest from abroad, and we feel that it is our moral obligation to best facilitate his future as best we can,” Glory chief executive Jason Brewer said.

De Silva will be unavailable for selection for Glory’s next two games, starting with Sunday’s away clash with Western Sydney.

The exciting midfielder has played just 12 games for Glory since making his A-League debut as a 15-year-old last year.

He captured the attention of some of the world’s biggest clubs last year with a standout campaign during the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.
