Tom Rogic signs with Melbourne Victory

Melbourne Victory have officially unveiled star playmaker Tom Rogic as their latest A-League signing.

The talented Socceroos midfielder will on Tuesday arrive at the club to finalise his loan from Scottish giants Celtic.

Rogic has signed on with Victory until May and, pending the arrival of his transfer certificate, could play as soon as their clash against Sydney FC on Australia Day.

The 21-year-old has made the move in search of more game time ahead of the World Cup, which kicks off in Brazil in June.

Victory beat rivals Sydney FC and Rogic’s former club Central Coast for his signature.

Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat said he was thrilled to be able to welcome Rogic.

“There has been a lot of interest in Tom’s immediate future ahead of the World Cup and we are very pleased that his club, Celtic, has decided that Melbourne Victory is the best-fit for him at this stage of his career,” Muscat said.

“Tom is a talented young player and we look forward to seeing him grow even further during his time with us.”

Rogic will form a key part of the club’s finals tilt this season and will also be involved in Victory’s upcoming Asian Champions League campaign, which begins with a must-win qualifier in Geelong on February 15.

The Victory also confirmed that Mitch Nichols will be released by the club with the midfielder set to sign for J-League outfit Cerezo Osaka, pending a medical.
