Socceroos playmaker Tom Rogic could be back in Australia this month in a bid to boost his World Cup hopes.

The 21-year-old former Central Coast young gun looked set for a reunion with ex-coach Graham Arnold in Japan after his current club Celtic agreed to loan him out.

But the proposed move to J-League outfit Vegalta Sendai is officially off.

Rogic has two weeks to secure a loan deal as he desperately searches for more game time with less than six months until the showpiece event in Brazil kicks off.

A-League club Melbourne Victory are said to be in the hunt to secure the youngster’s signature before the transfer window closes at the end of this month with Sydney FC also set to be interested.

Rogic has struggled for regular game time at the Scottish club, making just 14 appearances for the Glasgow giants – and only five in the starting line-up – since moving there a year ago.

Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou rates Rogic highly but has made it clear he won’t pick players who are not appearing regularly for their clubs.
