Right-arm quick James Pattinson has been named to replace the injured Mitchell Starc for Australia’s first Test with the West Indies in Hobart, starting Thursday.

The 25-year-old Victorian’s last Test match came in March 2014 at Cape Town against South Africa, where he picked up four wickets.

Fellow right-arm paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile will be the 12th man for the Test.

Coulter-Nile was a surprise inclusion after not playing a Sheffield Shield match this season due to injury.

Australian captain Steve Smith announced the line-up at a press conference in Hobart on Wednesday morning.

He also revealed the batting order will remain unchanged from the New Zealand Test in Adelaide, meaning all-rounder Mitchell Marsh stays at no.6 and wicketkeeper Peter Nevill at no.7.
