Ellyse Perry fires with bat and ball for NSW

Dual international Ellyse Perry has smashed an unbeaten 56 off 48 balls to ensure the defending champion NSW Breakers continued their winning ways in the Women’s National Cricket League.

Unwanted by Matildas coach Hesterine de Reus for the home football friendly series against China, Perry dominated the Breakers’ six-wicket T20 win on Sunday which completed a series sweep over the ACT Meteors in Wagga Wagga.

The pace bowler produced a miserly spell of 0-9 from her four overs as the Meteors scored 5-110 from their 20 overs, with Katie Mack unbeaten on 31 off 26 balls.

The Breakers lost openers Alyssa Healy (4) and Leah Poulton (1) early in their chase but got back on track through Rachael Haynes (21) and Alex Blackwell (20) who put on 43 runs for the third wicket.

A 40-run partnership between Haynes and Perry put the game beyond doubt and Perry finished as NSW’s top scorer for the match after a knock including six boundaries.

The win capped another successful weekend for the Breakers who are yet to drop a match this season.

They have so far achieved clean sweeps of their rounds against Tasmania and the ACT while winning two games against Victoria, with the third match abandoned due to rain.

Their next assignment will be against Queensland at Blacktown International Sportspark (December 6-8).
