I’m bigger, stronger, faster, says Mundine

The two will square off in a junior middleweight showdown at Newcastle Entertainment Centre tonight.

Heading into the fight, Mundine has had 46 wins from 51 outings, while Clottey has had 37 wins from 42 fights.

Mundine, 38, says Clottey will be a tough opponent, but he is confident heading into the bout.

“He’s pretty much an all round fighter,” he said.

“He can counter box, he can go on the front foot, he can go on the back foot and I’m the same.

“But I just think I’m a bigger guy, a stronger guy, a faster guy, and whoever’s going to implement the right game plan at the right time is going to win.”

Clottey is staying hush about how he will beat Mundine.

The 36-year-old says he has a few tricks up his sleave.

“I just don’t want to tell what I’m going to do to him,” he said.

“We haven’t even been in the ring so I need to keep my secrets.

“But I believe one thing’s for sure, that when you’re fighting a guy that is bigger and is making a lot of hits, we have something to do to break him down, so I have that.”
