The incredible footy bet that won a punter $70,000

One lucky punter is celebrating a staggering $69,979 collect from a $10 multi-bet on the weekend’s AFL results.
The gambler rolled the dice with online bookmaker Sportsbet, selecting the winners of all nine matches played over Round 4, and the correct margins, at the staggering odds of 6997-1.
In each of the matches, the punter correctly picked a side to win by 1 to 39 points, or over 40 points, and despite two very close calls, came up trumps thanks to Geelong’s Easter Monday thrashing of Hawthorn.
The miraculous collect was hailed as a Sportsbet-first by media representative Christian Jantzen.
“It is a huge win. And what makes it so great is it’s a small investment for a huge payout,” Jantzen told The New Daily.
“Our AFL traders cannot ever remember someone putting a multi-bet on every margin in every game and winning.
“These multi-bets are common and happen every week, but the reason we don’t hear about them is that they just don’t come off.
“This punter obviously knows about footy and, of course, had luck on their side.”
That luck was on show on Good Friday, when North Melbourne forward Lindsay Thomas missed a shot at goal just before the final siren that saw his side lose by three points.
The punter picked the Western Bulldogs to win by 1 to 39 points in that clash.
