Lance Franklin will not play again this season, the Sydney Swans have confirmed.

The Swans announced last week that Franklin would not play in their qualifying final against Fremantle on Saturday because of an ongoing mental health condition.

On Monday, Sydney coach John Longmire said Franklin would sit out the remainder of the year.

“Lance won’t be playing for the rest of the season,” said Longmire.

“We are mindful of his mental health issues and it is something that will need to be addressed and that is his main priority, to get that right.

“Footy isn’t on the agenda for Lance for the rest of the season.”

Longmire also confirmed Sam Reid would miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury suffered against the Dockers.
