Harley Bennell’s future is again up in the air after an alleged incident outside a Surfers Paradise night spot.

The Suns midfielder has been served with a public nuisance notice after an alleged argument with a bouncer.

The Gold Coast Bulletin reports Bennell slapped a cigarette from the bouncer’s hand during the dispute.

A Suns spokesman told AAP the club was “gathering facts”.

“The club has been made aware that Harley Bennell was issued with a public nuisance notice this morning,” the spokesman said.

“The club intends to make further comment later today.”

Bennell’s future at the Suns was already up in the air after he was stood down following the publication of photographs of the 22-year-old appearing to use illicit drugs in a Tasmanian hotel room in 2013.

Bennell was fined $5000 and given a suspended three-match ban by the club at the time.

Although contracted for another year, Bennell has been linked with a move away from the Gold Coast with several clubs including premiers Hawthorn believed to be interested in the mercurial star.
