#PutYourScarvesOut campaign honours coach

In echoes of the reaction to the death of Phil Hughes, shocked Australians are putting out their scarves in honour of Adelaide coach Phil Walsh.

Walsh was allegedly murdered early on Friday morning. His son, Cy, 26, has been charged and is in custody.

Adelaide’s game with Geelong on Sunday as been cancelled as the AFL community mourn the tragic loss of Walsh.

He had been involved as a player, assistant coach and coach at Collingwood, Richmond, Brisbane Bears, Geelong, Port Adelaide, West Coast and Adelaide.

As news spread, the hashtag “#PutYourScarvesOut” was created on social media with users posting photos of scarves and other merchandise out in tribute to Walsh.

Supporters of all teams and all codes put their scarves out to remember the life of Walsh who was involved in AFL football for over 30 years.
