Medical mixup: Buckley steaming over Fasolo ‘sub out’

Someone in the Collingwood medical department could soon be feeling the wrath of coach Nathan Buckley.

Buckley’s displeasure was obvious after a mix-up surrounding defender Alex Fasolo during Friday’s AFL Anzac Day win over Essendon.

Fasolo suffered a foot injury during the second term of the MCG clash, though the Magpies insist it is not a repeat of the bone problem that ruined last season for him.

The backman returned to the field briefly in the third quarter before the Magpies finally subbed him out of the game.

“I still have some questions to ask of our medical department,” Buckley said.

“We had 20 minutes to work it out (at halftime) and it wasn’t until 10 minutes into the third where we got the decision (to sub out Fasolo).”

Buckley was then asked if the delay in making a call on Fasolo might result in someone at the club receiving a kick up the backside.

“Potentially, yeah”, was Buckley’s blunt reply.
