Jed Adcock named Lions skipper

The Brisbane Lions have announced Jed Adcock will be their club captain for the 2014 AFL season.

Adcock, who shared the role with Jonathan Brown last season, will have Tom Rockliff as his deputy this year.

The 25-year-old Adcock has made 163 senior appearances since his debut in 2004.

Daniel Rich, Joel Patfull and Daniel Merrett will be the deputy vice captains.

“While we’d love to have Brownie around forever that’s just not possible and by him standing down from the captaincy it provides us with a great opportunity to develop our emerging leaders,” said Lions’ coach Justin Leppitsch.

Leppitsch said Brown, who recently re-signed to play on in 2014, would still play an influential role for the club as a player mentor.
