Inaugural Greater Western Sydney coach Kevin Sheedy has joined the AFL club’s board of directors.

The former Essendon mentor said on Thursday he was thrilled to remain at the Giants after handing over the coaching reins to Leon Cameron at the end of the 2013 season.

“Helping to start the Giants four years ago has been one of the most exciting things I have done in my career and I have unfinished business,” Sheedy said.

Sheedy was appointed Giants coach in 2009 and steered the club through its first AFL season in 2012.
