Liam Jurrah to make football comeback

Troubled former AFL star Liam Jurrah will play for the Tiwi Bombers in the Northern Territory Football League this year.

The former Melbourne Demons player was jailed earlier this year after an assault on a woman in a fight at Alice Springs.

The 25-year-old was released from prison in September and said he wanted to play AFL football again.

The Northern Territory News reports that Jurrah left Alice Springs today to join his new NTFL club, which is based in the Tiwi Islands but has a training group in Darwin.

It is not known if Jurrah will make his debut for the Tiwi Bombers against Darwin-based Wanderers at Bathurst Island on Sunday.
