World No.4 and reigning FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay is the 2021 PGA Tour player of the year.

Cantlay, who won four times in the wraparound 2020-21 season, was selected ahead of Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English, Open Championship winner Collin Morikawa and US Open champion Jon Rahm.

“Receiving this award through a member vote reflects the respect his peers have for Patrick,” PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said.

“His play throughout 2020-21 was phenomenal, and in stepping up to win consecutive FedEx Cup play-off events and the FedEx Cup, Patrick was at his best when it mattered most in our season.”

Cantlay’s playoff victory over DeChambeau in the BMW Championship saw him secure the last automatic qualifying place on the United States team for next week’s Ryder Cup.

PGA Tour members who played at least 15 official FedEx Cup events during the 2020-21 season were eligible to vote for player of the year.
