Jets captain Kew Jaliens opened the scoring in the 31st minute, making it to the far post to slam the ball home after a flick-on from a well-worked corner.

The Jets doubled their lead just two minutes later, after a shirt tug in the box from the Victory defence following another corner. Joel Griffiths was on hand to convert from 12 yards.

The Victory roared back almost instantly, with Ben Khalfallah heading in from close range just three minutes later.

The Victory’s comeback from two goals down to equalise came early in the second half as Besart Berisha ran on to an excellent throughball from Khalfallah to finish low past the keeper for his fifth goal in four games.

The draw sees the Melbourne Victory return to the top of the ladder on goal difference, but equal on 11 points after five games with Sydney FC and Adelaide United.

An inability to hold on to their lead did the Jets no good, as they remain in eighth place with two points.
