Summer is well and truly here, and the hot and dry conditions can lead to unwanted rising power bills.
If your New Year’s resolution was to get in control of your power costs and save money, we’ve got some tips for you.
1. Smarter air-conditioning
Air-conditioning is usually the biggest drain on summer power bills. And while cutting cooling costs delivers big savings, it’s easier said than done on a scorcher of a day. So rather than turning it off all together, try reducing your air-con usage by just a few hours per day.
You can also avoid setting the temperature too low, to reduce costs. Depending on where you live in Australia, the ideal air-con temperature should be set to around 25 degrees for cooling in summer for maximum energy efficiency.
2. Compare Plans

3. Close the window
If your first thought was to open up the house for some ventilation, first check the outside air temperature. When it is getting hot outside, your best bet is to use a fan to circulate the air, and close windows and doors to avoid the sun shining through.
