Feeling inspired by the 2018 Olympic Winter Games? Head just a bit further north from Pyeongchang and you can feel like a bonafide Olympian, skiing or snowboarding in Japan, with the added luxury of holidaying in style.

With an elevated position in Hokkaido, above the village of Hirafu, Skye Niseko Japan will be the first true five-star hotel in Niseko-Hirafu. It will open this northern autumn.

The new hotel will offer guests direct ski-in ski-out access to all major lift systems in scenic Grand Hirafu. Full-service options will include three Japanese onsens, dining, onsite ski rental, a ski valet and a day spa.

Guests will be able to ski and snowboard like Olympians in the best location in Niseko. The hotel’s lift opens onto the glistening white slopes and – with the service of a ski valet (who will store and dry equipment each night) – guests can be out on the snow within minutes.

Visitors can ski day and night, with skiing available until 9pm within metres of the hotel. There is also a free daily shuttle to the village centre and middle-lower Hirafu village.

When the snow is done and major muscle soothing is required, there are Japanese onsens (bathhouses) to relieve aches and pains. Japan is famed for its traditional bathhouses and there’s no better way to relax and rejuvenate after a long day on the slopes.

Guests don’t need to leave the hotel to experience Japan’s renowned natural hot springs. They can enjoy a long soak in the public or private onsens, and finish with a complimentary sauna session.

In the hotel’s rooms, contemporary elegance blends with modern conveniences and comforts.

The rooms exude luxury from the moment guests step foot on the heated French oak floorboards. They have spacious granite or marble bathrooms with walk-in showers, designated living spaces, plush king beds, large TVs with Netflix and AppleTV, high-speed broadband and even a kitchenette to prepare an in-room meal or midnight snack.

Room upgrades are available to suit a host of needs. Whether travelling with family, friends or a partner, there’s enough room for everyone.
