Donald Trump is dipping his toes into the world of fashion by releasing his very own sneaker collection.

The 2024 presidential candidate made an appearance at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia where he showed off his new shoes.

The “Never Surrender high-tops” are intended for “go-getters who don’t know the word ‘quit'” and call for wearers to be “bold, gold, and tough, just like President Trump”.

They make a statement, with bright gold upper, the letter “T” prominent on the tongue and sides and the American flag wrapping around the ankles.

The limited-edition sneakers have already sold out online, with only 1000 available.

But the T-Red Wave and POTUS 45 sneakers seem to still be available online and both are being sold for $199 ($304).

The high-tops were being sold for $399 ($609).

Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump introduced his new line of signature shoes at Sneaker Con at the Philadelphia Convention Center on February 17, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The shoes are being sold on a website called Trump Sneakers and the products are trademarks of CIC Ventures LLC.

Although the sneakers are “by” Trump, a disclaimer on the site states they are not “designed, manufactured, distributed or sold” by the former president.

Trump Sneakers is also selling fragrances: Victory47, as a cologne and perfume.

According to CNN, when Trump took to the podium at Sneaker Con, he said he had been thinking about releasing sneakers for more than a decade.

Video from the event suggests the crowd wasn’t too happy to see him.

He noted there was “a lot of emotion” in the room, as the crowd booed and, at one point, chanted “let’s go Biden”.

However, it appears there were signs saying “Sneakerheads love Trump” in the crowd also.

Michael Tyler, a spokesperson for Joe Biden’s campaign, was among those who criticised the bizarre move.

“Donald Trump showing up to hawk bootleg Off-Whites is the closest he’ll get to any Air Force Ones ever again for the rest of his life,” he said.

The appearance at Sneaker Con came a day after Trump was ordered to pay a whopping $US355 million ($545 million) in penalties.

The judge found the former president lied about his wealth for years, scheming to dupe banks, insurers and others by inflating his wealth on financial statements.

The weird merch released by US politicians

Beyond the MAGA hats and jumpers that simply say “VOTE”, there has been some weird political merchandise coming out of the US for a while.

Both Trump and Biden, the presumed two that will go head to head in November, have released an array of items that will fund their campaigns.

Trump is currently selling a T-shirt with the mug shot that was taken when he surrendered himself. Ironically, it says “never surrender”.

Donald Trump used his own mugshot to make T-shirts.

Biden is making light of those right-wing conspiracies by leaning into the “Dark Brandon” persona and selling dark roast Arabica coffee and a colour-changing mug.

In the past there has been some good funny pieces of merch to come out.

Biden and Kamala Harris sold fly swatters in 2020, which sounds random until you remember a fly remained on former VP Mike Pence’s head for several minutes during a debate.

Arguably, some of the best merchandise you can buy to show your support to whatever politician is often unauthorised.

There are plenty of Trump toilet brushes on the market and Donald Trump Chia pets [seed sets].

Sadly, The Trump Presidential Wall Game, in which you remove blocks while attempting to keep Trump on the wall, is currently unavailable on Amazon.

The cutest piece one could pick up is a hand-crocheted Bernie Sanders doll, modelled after the meme of him at the inauguration.
