President Donald Trump’s 20-minute inauguration speech had something for everyone, including movie buffs who thought they were listening to Bane from The Dark Knight Rises.
It’s not the first time President Trump has been compared to the Batman franchise, but on this historic occasion the key phrase “and giving it back to you, the people” caught everyone’s attention.
Deapspin editor Timothy Burke was amongst the first to tweet out a short video of the 45th president’s words in his inaugural speech with those of the Batman villain calling Gotham’s prison population to arms.

“Today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring the power from Washington D.C. and giving it back to you, the people,” Mr Trump told crowds in front of the US Capitol in Washington D.C.
In the third instalment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, bad guy Bane, played by Tom Hardy, stands on top of a car and shouts to the criminal crowd gathered around him.
“We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity and we give it back to you, the people.”

Mr Burke’s tweet has now received over 57,000 retweets.
Star Wars icon Mark Hamill has previously read Trump’s tweets in the words of the comic book rival, The Joker.
