US President Barack Obama is going out in style.
With just days until he and wife Michelle vacate the White House, the Obamas threw a farewell bash at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on Friday night, and the celebrity guest list of musicians, actors and activists partied and danced until 4am Saturday.
While president-elect Donald Trump has struggled to find any big-name performers for his January 20 inauguration, President Obama’s function attracted A-list stars.
Attendees reportedly included Meryl Streep, George and Amal Clooney, Robert De Niro, Beyoncé and Jay Z, Nick Jonas, Jordin Sparks, David Letterman, Paul McCartney, Kelly Rowland, Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis, Samuel Jackson, Usher, Magic Johnson, Tom Hanks, Jerry Seinfeld, Stevie Wonder, Charles Barkley, Steven Spielberg, Marc Anthony, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tyler Perry, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.
In a video recorded at 4.33am outside the White House and posted to Instagram, Chance the Rapper declared the party “amazing”.
“They wouldn’t let us bring cameras into this sh*t but just know it was historic, it was black, it was beautiful, there was dancing, there was laughing, there was loving there was hugs,” he said.
