Outgoing President Barack Obama has made fun of Republican candidate Donald Trump for having his Twitter account taken away from him.

Mr Trump’s personal tweets are said to have caused so much controversy during his campaign that his minders have decided to ban him from using it, according to the New York Times.

“Apparently, his campaign has taken away his Twitter,” President Obama told a Hillary Clinton rally in Florida on Monday.

“In the last two days, they had so little confidence in his self-control that they said, ‘We’re just going to take away your Twitter’.”

“Now, if somebody can’t handle a Twitter account, then they can’t handle the nuclear codes.”

“If somebody starts tweeting at three in the morning because SNL made fun of you, then you can’t handle the nuclear codes.”

According to reports, Mr Trump dictates tweets through his campaign managers during the day, but lets loose at night once everyone has gone home.

The candidate has been known to go after anyone from politicians, to celebrities and anyone who has made fun of him.

Most recently, it was actor Alec Baldwin, who played Mr Trump in a Saturday Night Live spoof to great fanfare.
