A four-star review of a “minimalistic” room with en suite “and butler” has gone viral on Facebook — because the room in question is a jail cell in England.

Christian Willoughby was put in lock-up at the Grimsby Police Station in North East Lincolnshire on Wednesday but rather than let it get him down, he took some photos and wrote a TripAdvisor-style review which has since been shared more than 4,000 times on Facebook.

“The staff are pleasant enough,” he wrote.

“Had my own [en suite] room and butler … who would come with tea and newspapers.

“Ideal place for winding down after a hard day. I’d definitely come back.”

He was not such a fan of the “all-day breakfast” though: a gravy of beans and sausage.

“It’s missing a few items such as bacon, hash brown, toast, egg, et cetera,” he told the ABC.

Mr Willoughby told commenters on his post he took the photos on an iPad, although in a different post he said he had sneaked a phone into the cell.

He said the photos were just meant to be “a bit of banter” with his Facebook friends, but that he had since been receiving constant friend requests and messages.

“The response I’ve had is something I never imagined,” he told the ABC.

“Within 24 hours it had thousands of likes and shares all over different Facebook pages, then quickly went international.”

He said he had received “hardly any negative feedback whatsoever”, with several people worldwide messaging him about how his post had made their day.

However, he acknowledged the police were taking it a bit more seriously.

“There is going to be an independent investigation as to how it happened … I don’t think they see the humour in it,” he said.

Humberside Police said they were aware of the pictures and would review its procedures to prevent future security breaches, according to the BBC.
