Police in Cambodia have arrested an Australian man alleged to have masterminded the murder of former Australian Hells Angels member Wayne Schneider in Thailand.
Thai police issued an arrest warrant this week for 26-year-old Antonio Bagnato after the abduction and murder of Mr Schneider in the seaside town of Pattaya.
Mr Bagnato was arrested in Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh and a photograph of him handcuffed has appeared in local media.
Cambodian police confirmed the arrest to local media.
“He was arrested yesterday. He is wanted in a murder case overseas,” Thong Piseth chief of military police in Phnom Penh’s Daun Pehn district told the Phnom Penh Post newspaper.
Former senior member of the Hells Angels Wayne Schneider, was beaten unconscious outside his Pattaya home and kidnapped by five masked men in the early hours of Monday morning.
Wayne Schneider was on the NSW police most wanted list in 2006.
He was found with a broken neck and facial injuries in a roadside grave the following day.
A 21-year old American man was arrested on the Thai-Cambodia border and Thai police said he confessed to being involved in the killing.
Antonio Bagnato’s Thai partner has also been arrested for allegedly renting the vehicle used in the attack.
Police used the GPS tracking system installed in the car to lead them to the burial site and are now reportedly searching a nearby pond for more evidence.
