Halloween ‘suicide bomber’ spooks army base

Remember that time Prince Harry dressed up as a Nazi Soldier?
A soldier in the US has gone one better, triggering an emergency response with his suicide bomber getup at a US Army base in North Carolina.
The ‘suicide bomber’, complete with a fake explosives vest, tried to enter Fort Bragg through one of the access control points, only to raise the alarm.

The base, home to the army’s airborne and special operations forces, was forced to clear the area and bring in the explosives disposal unit.
It’s unclear whether the soldier was simply pulling a prank, or legitimately thought the costume would be well received.
“The soldier as dressed as a suicide bomber with a simulated explosives vest,” a social media account linked to the army based posted online.
“Although the incident remains under investigation, initial reports indicate it was a Halloween Costume.
“Costumes of this sort are not allowed on Fort Bragg.”
Perhaps for next year’s Halloween the base should award bonus points for using common sense.
Elsewhere in the US, Americans took to the streets in a swathe of freaky and downright impressive costumes.
