Shoppers, including children, were surprised to hear a pornographic audio track played at a Target store in California.

Perhaps expecting to hear smooth 90s hits such as “Save Tonight” by Eagle Eye Cherry, families were instead subjected to heavily explicit audio and loud, persistent moaning.

A video of the X-rated shopping experience has gone viral, in which you can hear members of the public reacting to the surprising soundtrack.

Warning: graphic content

The woman responsible for the video, shopper Gina Young, said nearby customers helped cover the ears of her twins, while staff members frantically hung up each of the store’s intercoms, trying to stop track.

“What is going on at Target right now?!” Ms Young can be heard saying to herself, as the graphic audio of a woman continues to play.

Crying can be heard from children, as well as laughter from other shoppers.

“Some people threw things down and walked out,” Young said. “Others were yelling at employees. Lots of people taking videos. Crazy!!!”

Target, which prides itself on being a family-friendly store, explained in a Tweet that the matter was being investigated.
