Hollywood actor and rock star Jack Black has derided Australian prime minister Tony Abbott for his stance on same-sex marriage.

Mr Abbott, who made successful political moves earlier this week to block the Liberal Party from a free vote on the matter, was described as a “nutter” by Black.

‘It sickens me and it should sicken you, Mr Abbott’

“I personally think the guy’s living in the stone ages, though,” Black said.

“He’s not seeing the writing on the wall. The movement of the world is heading towards equality for all people, all sexual preferences.

“Come on, we’re all the same in the end. Who cares what gives you a boner. Really?

When the host told Black that Mr Abbott has been “frequently seen eating raw onions like apples”, the School of Rock man replied:

“Yeah, he sounds like a bit of a nutter, a bit of a nutter butter.”

Coalition party MPs voted 66 to 33 to not allow a conscience vote on same-sex marriage in a marathon meeting earlier this week.

The move to include Nationals members was criticised from those within the Liberal Party, including Christopher Pyne.
