Victim’s father pens open letter to MH17 ‘murderers’

Dutch father Hans de Borst has written an emotional open letter to Vladimir Putin, pro-Russian separatist leaders and the Ukraine government after his only daughter, Elsemiek, was killed in the MH17 tragedy.

Elsemiek, a 17-year-old high school student, was killed when her flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot out of the sky by an unidentified missile.

Her outraged father has responded to the tragedy with an emotional letter shared on his Facebook page.

“Thank you very much mister Putin, leaders of the separatists or the Ukraine government!” the letter begins.

“For murdering my loved and only child, Elsemiek de Borst! She was 17 years old, 5th ‘gymnasium’ student at the ‘Segbroek College’ in Den Haag.”

According to her father, Elsemiek was returning from a holiday with her little brother, mother and stepfather and was scheduled to do her final school exams next year.

“She did so good in school! After that she wanted to go to the ‘Technical University Delft’ to study engineering, she was looking forward to it!”

Mr de Borst’s letter is a window into the heartache of hundreds of relatives who lost a loved one after the tragic crash killed all 298 passengers on board the plane.

“Suddenly she is not here anymore!” Mr de Borst wrote. “She has been shot out of the sky, in an unknown country, where there is a war going on!”

“Aforementioned misters, I hope you’re proud to have shot her, amongst other, young life and future. And that you will be able to look at yourself in the mirror tomorrow morning.”

The letter is signed “Elsemieks father Hans de Borst from Monster, The Netherlands, whose life is ruined”.
