A tsunami watch has been issued for Australia and New Zealand following the 8.3-magnitude earthquake in the Solomon Islands.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre issued the warning following the quake on Sunday about 6.15 AEST.

It’s initially unclear whether there has been extensive damage caused in the Solomons, which are recovering from recent deadly flooding.

A tsunami warning was issued for the Solomons, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, New Caledonia, Tuvalu and Kosrae.
