Teenager arrested after gun fired at WA school

School in lockdown after gun incident

A teenager has been taken into custody after a disturbing incident in which a gun was fired in a Perth school car park.

Western Australian police allege the 15-year-old brought the gun into the car park at Atlantis Beach Baptist College, Two Rocks, in Perth’s outer north-west, just before midday on Wednesday.

They said one or more shots were fired from the gun shortly after.

Police were called and the boy was arrested. The school was placed in lockdown.

Officers remained on the scene into Wednesday afternoon, although they said all staff and students had been accounted for.

“We have a person in custody,” Inspector Geoff DeSanges said.

“I want to reassure the parents and the community that we have a significant number of police resources on site and we’re dealing with the situation.

“We do not have any reports of at this stage of anyone being injured.”

Police have since said there is no ongoing risk to the public.
