WA Police have charged three people after a violent brawl at Kings Park which involved two groups of partygoers.

Officers were called to the park just after 10:30pm on Friday, after a fight broke out between revellers who had been on board two party buses near Fraser’s Restaurant.

Sixteen police vehicles were deployed to break up the altercation, which involved up to 100 people.

According to police, the two groups were known to each other and there was a history of aggression, but police believe the incident was unplanned.

The groups used sticks, branches and chairs as weapons to attack each other.

WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said he was disappointed such a brutal event would take place at such a special location.

“The fact that it happened at Kings Park, at such a special place for all Australians, is very disturbing… in such a visible public place and one that is special to all of us, being at the Kings Park memorial area.”

Commissioner Dawson said several people were assaulted and knocked unconscious during the brawl, with one man taken to hospital with non-life-threatening head injuries.

Police are asking for anyone with footage or photos of the incident to come forward.
