Father faces 410 charges over sex abuse of daughter

The number of charges against a West Australian father accused of running a paedophile ring centring on his 13-year-old daughter has almost doubled to more than 400 offences.

A total of eight men have been charged in connection with the case, accused of committing hundreds of sex crimes against the girl, including aggravated sexual penetration.

The men, including a church preacher, were arrested by the Child Abuse Squad after a tip off from a member of the public in July.

The girl was aged between 11 and 13 when the offences are alleged to have taken place.

The girl’s father was originally charged with 228 offences, but on Wednesday he appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court via video link from Hakea Prison, charged with 410 offences.

These include 261 counts of indecently recording a child under circumstances of aggravation and more than 35 charges of sexual penetration of a child.

Other charges include three counts of knowingly sexually penetrating a child who was a lineal relative and 11 counts of compelling another person to provide a sexual service.

He now faces four additional charges of breaching his protective bail conditions since being arrested.

The man was not required to plead to the charges.

The matter was adjourned and will return to court next month.
