Cars, homes damaged in Perth fires

Three separate fires in Perth’s eastern suburbs have caused an estimated $450,000 damage to property and cars.

One blaze caused extensive damage to a grain and produce business in Welshpool.

It started in a crusher at Milne Agrigroup on Welshpool Road last night but is not considered to be suspicious.

Firefighters say the damage bill is likely to exceed $200,000.

Another fire at a house in the suburb of Victoria Park caused around $200,000 damage.

It started in the home on Lichfield Street around 7:30pm (AWST).

The third fire damaged three cars at an apartment block in East Perth.

The fire started in the underground car park at Sovereign Apartments in Bremer Promenade early this morning.

Damage there has been estimated at more than $50,000.

A spokesman for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said there was nothing to suggest the fires were linked.
