A man has been injured in what police believe was a targeted early morning shooting at a Melbourne CBD strip club.

Emergency services were called to The Men’s Gallery on Lonsdale Street, near the intersection of King Street, just after 4am following reports a man had been injured.

The victim, thought to be in his late teens or early 20s, was found on the road with police told a suspected gunshot had been heard.

He was taken to hospital where he is refusing to provide information to detectives about the incident.

The offender fled after the shooting, Victoria Police inspector Chris Murray said.

“Any firearm incident inside a venue is a concern,” he said.

The area was cordoned off while investigators examine the scene.

Police said the shooting was being treated as a targeted attack.

It comes almost four months after three men were stabbed outside the same venue.

Police believe two groups of men had an altercation outside the strip club in the early hours of the morning.
