Two people have died in a suspicious factory fire in Melbourne’s west.

Emergency crews were called to the blaze at a property on Bunnett Street at Sunshine North about 4am on Friday.

The single-level factory was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived.

About 50 firefighters with 12 trucks fought to contain the blaze, a Fire Rescue Victoria spokeswoman said.

It took until just before 7am to get the fire under control.

Two people who were inside the factory at the time died and are yet to be formally identified.

“(Fire Rescue Victoria) conducted attack of the fire from above, while crews in breathing apparatus undertook an internal attack containing the (fire) to the factory,” the spokeswoman said.

“The incident has been deemed suspicious and Victoria Police has established a crime scene.”

Victoria Police is investigating the circumstances of the fire and are yet to determine how it started.

Officers have urged anyone with information about the blaze to come forward.

Crews also responded to a factory fire at Malcolm Place at Campbellfield in Melbourne’s north on Friday morning.
